I'm amused that so many contests advertising a promise to fly you somewhere, tend to fly you to New York City. I totally understand the appeal - NYC is a highly appealing place with all its flashy lights, pricy swag, many museums, and such. But I always laugh at the thought
'What if you already lived there? No free flights?'*shrugs* Silly, I know, but I live in New York City so it's always made me wonder. xD
Right, well in other less silly observations, I had hoped to actually have artwork by now for the NYAF, cuz I had been interested in opening my own booth in Artist's Alley, but alas, that is so not happening this year. I didn't get bit by the drawing bug into last month (or was it the month before?) and I'm still slow with what I do eventually draw. *head desk* I swear, every year makes me realize how I'll never be a manga-ka, unless I stick to writing because that I can do with no problem.
But in other promising aspirations, I'm saving up for a 360, FINALLY. D=
Also, I'm reading a lot lately. Zombie stories, of course. If anyone else has a zombie love, then I totally recommend Jonathan Maberry's
Rot and Ruin. It takes place post-zombie apocalypse, 14 years after, to be exact. Excellent read, especially given it's a Young Adult book (but don't let that scare you off if you're older, I've come to find that some of the best books on the shelves are actually Young Adult ones).
I'm also currently reading Scott Kenemore's
Zombie, Ohio: A Tale of the Undead. It's part-horror, part-humor, part-mystery, oh, and it's told from the POV of a guy who is a zombie. It's a rare look at a zombie apocalypse from the zombie POV, which I really like, but also, this guy is actually still able to talk and pretty much function normally, which makes it just a bit more fascinating.
After this, I plan to read Mel Brook's Zombie Survival Guide, which I borrowed from Amanda months ago.
I really need to stop procrastinating things. I have World War Z (of course I do, lol) and have been dying (no pun intended) to read the Survival Guide.
I wonder if it's odd that I get so eager and excited and dive straight into reading books about zombies or post-apocalyptic scenarios? I have a bunch of other things to read, but these books about zombies make me go 'SQUEEEEEEE'. xD I'm such a weirdo.
Ha, and despite my adoration of gore and zombies, I actually doubt I have any true talent to draw any of that. It always seems so complicated. Though sometimes I'll play a Silent Hill game and go
'Damn, I bet that would be fun to draw... Once I've stopped running like a chickenshit from it.' (trufax). xD
o__o Though I would love to draw something for Rabbit Doubt. Hm...
